ADAE in the Life — ADAE Salon

Hi! Welcome to ADAE (noun) Ah•Day. in the life. My name is Anna. I am the owner of ADAE Salon as well as a stylist. I’ve had ideas for this blog and wanted to start it since purchasing the salon 3 years ago. But you know … things like kids, house projects, clients, running a business, and training employees came first. So now here we are, the world being cancelled due to COVID-19. Silver lining = I have some free time to get working on this.

I want to start by telling you a little bit about the salon…

As I was navigating the lengthy process of buying a business I talked with a lot of people and read a lot of things. Entreleadership by Dave Ramsey was one of them. I’m a huge Dave fan!! He recommends coming up with a mission statement. Up until this time I had worked at salons that I loved, and salons that I didn’t love as much. I knew that entering the world of entrepreneurship was not going to be easy. As my Uncle Wayne would say: “welcome to the journey of the broke.” Funny but also kind of accurate! So I knew that I needed to come up with a mission statement that I was passionate about … something that I could come back to on the days when I wanted to quit, on the days when the money wasn’t worth it.

“Always focus on creating an atmosphere where people can thrive.”

This is mostly geared toward employees and having an amazing place to be 40 hours a week … a salon that they would love! But also, for clients. This aligns with the ADAE Salon mission that was already in place:

“At ADAE, we are dedicated to providing exceptional service in a friendly, relaxing environment. We aim to provide the highest level of satisfaction to our clients, and take seriously our commitment to treat each guest with respect and integrity. ADAE Salon will always be a place where we help our clients look and feel their very best!”

So now about the blog, I’m going to break this down the easiest way I know how.

Who

Over the past 3 years I have learned … A LOT. I get to come to work every day and do kick ass hair with a bunch of amazing women! And we want to share with you. Obviously I am passionate about this so you’ll definitely be hearing from me! You will also be hearing from other stylists at ADAE Salon and possibly other stylists that are friends and acquaintances of ours.

What

Hair + makeup. Extensions, color, haircuts, bangs, tutorials, makeup, what products to use, why to use them, different people’s preferences, explaining services, etc etc etc
Mom stuff. Basically our team has turned into one big mom support group. If you don’t have kids already … our break room talk will prepare you. It will prepare you for the good, the bad, the ugly, and the beautiful. We talk about how to potty train, medication, vaccines, crazy psychotic toddler behavior, activities, how to survive actual delivery, how to make it through Target. You name it … we talk about it. Thought maybe that might be helpful!
Fashion. What we’re wearing, where we get it from, the best deals, why we like it, role models, favorite bloggers, shopping guides
Miscellaneous. Again this is all new! Maybe we’ll talk about business, maybe home décor, who knows! We’ll take some surveys on IG to find out what you want to see and hear about.

When

Again this is all new! We’re hoping to be posting 1 blog post per week. To be honest I couldn’t do this without our social media + marketing coordinator Maria Slette w/ Impact Social. I’ll be writing, coming up with ideas, and encouraging engagement with employees. She will be making it sound better, look better, and make sure I actually follow through. THANK YOU Maria!
